Symbolism and Visual Composition

The painting functions as a nierika (a rustic portal and ceremonial vision), capturing a dense cosmogonic map where the most important deities of the Wixárika pantheon interact:

• The Shaman or Mara’akame: On the left side, a stylized anthropomorphic figure in deep and light blue tones represents the shaman in full spiritual communion. He wears a ceremonial headdress and holds a ritual instrument, raising his prayers toward the cosmos.

• The Sacred Fire (Tatewari): In the lower right corner shines the ceremonial bonfire, the grandfather fire, a central element of visions and spiritual guidance, drawn with tongues of fire in orange and yellow tones upon perfectly outlined wooden logs.

• The Serpent (Kuvie): Sinous and dynamic, a blue serpent with geometric patterns descends along the right side, symbolizing rain, water, fertility, and the earthly-celestial connection.

• Offerings and Ritual Elements: At the center stands out a ceremonial altar or drum (tepo) upon which a ritual candle burns, representing light and knowledge. Beside it appears a muvieri (ceremonial arrow of power) richly adorned with feathers and a central design that evokes the hikuri (peyote), the sacred cactus giver of vision.

• The Sun (Tau) and the Sacred Landscape: In the upper left corner appears the rising sun, radiating vital energy to the entire scene, while at the lower left the sacred mountains or rocky textures of Wirikuta, accompanied by another votive light.
